Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation, Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha, on Tuesday held bilateral talks with Deputy Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel at Capital Hill in Lilongwe.
During the meeting, Mwanamvekha expressed Malawi’s gratitude for Luxembourg’s development cooperation, noting that the partnership continues to drive economic growth, improve livelihoods, and strengthen national resilience.
The Finance Minister requested Luxembourg’s support through budget assistance, particularly in fiscal decentralisation, human capital development, agriculture, and local economic development.
Bettel, who also serves as Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, is currently on a three-day official visit to Malawi.
He has already held engagements with President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation George Chaponda, and other senior government officials.
